Factors Affecting Intratympanic Corticosteroids Injection Therapy Results in Sudden Deafness Patients at Dr Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang

Sudden deafness is an emergency in the Ear Nose Throat Department, a subset of sensorineural hearing loss within a 72-hour window period and consists of a decrease in hearing of 30 decibels affecting at least three consecutive frequencies. The therapy given is corticosteroids, systemic corticosteroids or intratympanic corticosteroids injection, or both. The prognosis of sudden deafness depends on several factors. Patient with sudden hearing loss does not always have the same result in hearing improvement. This study was aimed to determine the factors that affect the results of intratympanic corticosteroid injection therapy in patients with sudden deafness.
Methods. This study is an observational study with a cross-sectional design. The data were collected using medical records on 96 ears given intratympanic corticosteroid injection therapy at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang from July 2018 to February 2021.
Results. From 96 ears conducted in the study, the improvement of therapeutic results on intratympanic corticosteroid injection in patients with sudden deafness was 72.9%. The study found factors that influenced the outcome of therapy, namely age (p=0.002), the onset of therapy (p = 0.003), and the use of a combination of systemic steroids (p=0.010). From the logistic regression test, it was found that the factors that most influenced the results of intratympanic corticosteroid injection therapy were young age 18-40 years (p=0.016) with (OR) 6.654 (CI95% 1.418-31.222) and therapy onset less than two weeks (p=0.027) with (OR) 3.108 (95% CI 1.134-8.515).
Conclusions. The factors associated with the improvement in the outcome of intratympanic corticosteroid injection therapy in patients with sudden hearing loss were patient age and early onset of therapy. -
Relationship between Radiological Severity, Knee Pain and Functional Limitation in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis at Dr. M. Djamil Padang General Hospital
Views: 1,132Downloads: 719Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease frequently affecting the elderly and the middle class due to injury or overuse of the joints. An individual with pain due to OA will experience dysfunction of joints and muscles, thus causing movement limitation, decrease of muscle strength and balance. The objective of this study is to know the association of OA radiological degree with pain intensity and limitation of physical capability in patients with knee joint OA.
Methods: This study is a retrospective study on patients with knee joint OA treated at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang in year 2021 from January 2021 to May 2021. Data collection was conducted in the Medical Records Department of RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang and questionnaire which fulfills the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Results: A total of 58 patients fulfilled the inclusion criteria of this study. Results of the study showed the mean age of the respondents was 60 years with variance of 7 years. More than a half (77.6%) of the respondents were female and most common ethnicity was Minang (82.8%). 50% of the patients were housewives. BMI of the respondents were mostly overweight - obese (65.5%). Most commonly affected side of the knee joint OA was the right side (55.2%). Most common degree of OA was the fourth degree (39.7%). More than a half of the respondents (84.5%) had moderate intensity of pain and 34.5% respondents had mild physical limitation. Results of the study showed that there was an association between OA radiological degree and pain intensity in patients with knee joint OA (p value = 0.0001). Results of the study showed that there was an association between OA radiological degree and level of physical capability limitations in patients with knee joint OA (p value = 0.0001). Results of the study showed that there was an association between pain intensity and level of physical capability limitations in patients with knee joint OA (p value = 0.0001).
Conclusion: There was an association between OA radiological degree and pain intensity, physical limitations in patients with knee joint OA, and there was an association between pain intensity and level of physical capability limitation in patients with knee joint OA.

Analysis of Risk Factors with the Degree of Pelvic Organs Prolapse at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a condition in which one or more pelvic organs (consisting of the uterus, vaginal cuff, bladder, intestines, and rectum) or more are still in or out of the vagina. Risk factors that influence the incidence of POP consist of obstetric risk factors (number of parity and birth method) and non-obstetric risk factors (age, menopause, BMI, comorbid disease, and hypertension). The purpose of this study was to analyze the risk factors associated with the degree of POP.
Methods. This study is an observational study with a cross-sectional approach to 111 patients examined at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Mohammad Hoesin general hospital Palembang on January 2017 to December 2019, who was diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse.
Results. The results showed the effect of variables with the degree of POP using the chi-square test, consisting of parity (p=0.007), birth method (p=<0.001), age (p=0.016), menopause (p=0.001), BMI (p =0.005), indicates that there is a significant effect on the degree of POP. Meanwhile, comorbid factors (p=0.481) and hypertension (p=0.415) did not show a significant relationship with the degree of POP. The results of the binary logistic regression analysis of all risk factors, the number of parity >4, overweight, and age 40 years, will have a 99.85% chance of experiencing grade 3 or 4 prolapse.
Conclusion. Age is the most dominant risk factor affecting the degree of pelvic organ prolapse, with 19 times the chance of developing POP 3 or 4 degrees.

Correlation of Prolonged Total Ischemic Time with Body Mass Index in Kidney Transplant: A Single Center Report
Views: 3,093Downloads: 654Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a rising health concern worldwide, especially in Indonesia. The treatment of choice for end-stage renal disease is Kidney Transplantation.1 Numerous studies showed that prolonged total ischemic ischemic time may cause hypoxia of the graft tissue and increased risk of ischemia and reperfusion injury (IRI) and delayed graft function (DGF).2 Body mass index of kidney transplant recipients may cause prolonged duration of the procedure, as well as prolonged total ischemic time. This study aimed to determine the correlation between prolonged total ischemic time with body mass index.
Method: This was an observational and cross-sectional analysis at Kariadi General Hospital Semarang involving patients who underwent kidney transplantation from January 2016 to December 2019. The total ischemic time was recorded intraoperatively. The Body Mass Index data were provided by medical records. The program used to statistically analyze the data was SPSS 23.0, and Spearman was used for hypothesis testing.
Result: This study included 25 kidney transplant recipients. The mean total ischemic time was 43,27 ± 6,63 minutes. There was a significant positive correlation between prolonged ischemic time and body mass index (r= 0,506 ; p= 0,010).
Conclusion: Prolonged total ischemic time was positively correlated with increased body mass index and these results are statistically significant.

Dermatoglyphy in Breast Cancer Patients: A Systematic Review
Views: 20,771Downloads: 1,667Background. Breast cancer is one of the four types of cancer among women and is the most frequently diagnosed in most countries. Breast cancer occurs due to DNA damage and genetic mutations affected by exposure to estrogen, inheritance of damaged DNA, or pro-cancer genes such as BRCA1 and BRCA2. Therefore, a family history of ovarian cancer or breast cancer increases the risk of developing breast cancer. The embryo of the breast develops around the age of 6 weeks of pregnancy. Similar to breast development, fingerprint patterns also develop during the 6-13 weeks of pregnancy. Thus, the genetic message contained in the genome occurred during that period and was reflected in the dermatoglyphic pattern.
Methods. The literature search was systematically used using PubMed, Cochran, Google scholar, and other Gray literature between 2010-2020. Of the 69 publications identified, 21 met the criteria and were included in the review. The review is carried out following the provisions of PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review).
Results. This systematic review showed fairly consistent findings in breast cancer patients who tended to have more whorl fingerprint patterns and larger ATD angles. For radial loops, ulnar loops and arches were minor compared to the control group potential as an initial screening tool in at-risk groups.
Conclusion. Long-term and follow-up studies with larger sample sizes in various ethnicities are needed to validate dermatoglyphics in anthropometric measurements as a promising marker of breast cancer. -
The Effect of the Covid-19 Free Operation Path Protocol on the Incidence of Lung Complications in Postoperative Elective Patients at dr. Moewardi Hospital Surakarta
Views: 1,095Downloads: 381The pandemic that began in late 2019, COVID-19, affects all patients, including cancer patients. Patients with cancer that continues to spread and there is no other effective alternative treatment must undergo surgery so that cancer does not get worse. Given this problem, many health care centers have developed a protocol system in the form of a COVID-19-free surgical route. This study is a retrospective cohort study comparing the incidence of pulmonary complications in patients undergoing elective cancer surgery at dr. Moewardi Surakarta before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study sample was adult patients aged ≥ 18 years which underwent elective surgical procedures with the aim of curative cancer starting before COVID-19 (March 2019-February 2020) until the time the COVID-19 pandemic emerged (March 2020 - February 2021). The data obtained were 768 patients. Of these patients, 384 were classified as having a COVID19-free operation route during the pandemic, and 384 others underwent elective surgery in the pre-pandemic period. Based on the Chi-Square test, a p-value of 0.850 was obtained (P>0.05) which shows that there is significant difference between cases of pulmonary complications in surgical patients before and after the pandemic who were carried out through the COVID-19-free protocol route. In conclusion, there is no significant change in effect of the covid-19 free operation path protocol on the incidence of lung complications in postoperative elective patients at dr. Moewardi Hospital Surakarta, although this patented and mandatory protocol can reduce cancer patients’ morbidity and mortality who undergoing elective surgery during a pandemic.

Correlation Between Candidiasis And Mortality In Gastric Ulcer Perforation Patients
Views: 945Downloads: 648Background: Gastric ulcer disease remains the most common gastrointestinal disease. This affects about 4 million people every year worldwide with an incidence of 1.5%-3% and 2-14% of these will progress to perforation. Mortality is reported in 30% of cases and caused morbidity in 50% of patients. Some studies have suggested that mortality in patients with peritonitis accompanied by candidiasis ranges from 20%-75%, whereas others have argued that the presence of fungal isolates in patients with perforated peptic ulcer does not affect the outcome. A recent study reported an incidence of 45% of patients peptic ulcer perforation cases accompanied by candidiasis in Dr. Soetomo General Hospital Surabaya in 2019.
Methods: This was a cross sectional study based on medical record data of patients with gastric ulcer perforation accompanied by candidiasis who underwent laparotomy and gastric repair surgery at Dr. Soetomo General Hospital Surabaya from January 2019 to December 2020.
Results: There was no significant correlation between candidiasis and mortality in gastric ulcer perforation patients (p=0.989).
Conclusion: Candidiasis does not increase mortality in patients with gastric ulcer perforation. -
Pain in Decreased Consciousness Patients
Views: 1,123Downloads: 1,197The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) defines pain as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with potential or tissue damage or described in terms of such damage. Pain in patients with decreased consciousness is individual and needs to consider many aspects. Following the expansion pain definition according to the IASP in 2020, the inability to communicate does not exclude the possibility that humans experience pain. Therefore, a good pain assessment in patients with decreased consciousness can increase the value of disease management and improve the patient's quality of life both during the treatment period and after hospitalization. Because of the inability of patients with decreased consciousness to verbally convey their pain, this poses a challenge for the clinician. This literature review was aimed to describe how to understand the pain in decreased consciousness patients.

Maternal Death Cause by Antepartum Eclampsia, With HELPP Syndrome and AKI Stage III : A Preventable Recurrent Death
Views: 1,426Downloads: 747Background: Eclampsia and severe preeclampsia is of the most frequent cause of maternal death. We usually find the case like this in our daily practice. The case most likely could be prevented. Eclampsia defined as a generalized seizure following preeclampsia in pregnancy.
Eclampsia/Preeclampsia (EPH-Gestosis) cause a multisystem dysfunction such as HELLP syndrome, microangiopathy hemolytic anemia, liver dysfunction, and thrombocytopenia. Eclampsia and HELLP syndrome lead to maternal mortality, which happened mostly during third trimester.
Most of the patient came to the hospital in a bad condition where the multi organs failure were exist. EPH-Gestosis are due to maternal death in 43,75%. Even the case usually severe, it’s a preventable death. A proper strategy is needed to reduce or to avoid the maternal death.
Objective: To analyse a maternal death with eclampsia and how to prevent this recurrent death.
Case Report: A woman, 30 years old, G2P1A0 32 weeks pregnant not in labor with antepartum eclampsia was admitted to Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital (MHGH) Palembang, a referral case. Patient experienced generalized seizure six times before coming to MHGH which every seizure duration is less than five minutes and unconscious. On physical examination, patient was conscious, with blood pressure of 160/100 mmHg, pale, and cold extremities. By ultrasound examination, it showed 34 weeks pregnancy with single life fetus. Laboratory examination showed leukocytosis (25.000/mm3), thrombocytopenia (58.000/mm3), hyperbilirubinemia, elevated SGOT and SGPT (1691 and 861 U/L), elevated creatinine serum (2,46 mg/dl), and elevated LDH (3629 U/L). The patient was treated based on the protocol for stabilization with intramuscular injection of MgSO4 40%, nifedipin 10 mg per oral, intravenous injection of dexamethasone 12 mg, and plan to terminate the pregnancy by caesarean procedure. The male baby was born, 2000 g weight and APGAR score 4/6/8. After the cesarean the consciousness not so well. Collaborating therapy to handle the case, with the anesthesiologist, internist and neurologist. Maternal death occurred in 3 days hospitalized …caused by multi organ failure (MOF).
Conclusion: The maternal death caused by antepartum eclampsia and the complication. The diagnosis of antepartum eclampsia and HELLP syndrome was decided based on history taking, physical examination, and supporting examination. Multiple organ failure exist in this case when the patient came to MHGH. Patient already treated and tried to overcome the complication but maternal death still occurred. This maternal death has a likely same story of previous death pattern. It is needed a strategy to prevent or to reduce the maternal death and how to make a good effort to cease the case become severe or worst. -
Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prognosis of Syphilis in HIV Patient

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that attacks the body's immune system, decreased the number of CD4 cells that makes the immune system decrease, and facilitates syphilis infection. Syphilis increased the risk of spreading HIV infection with skin barrier destruction. The diagnosis of syphilis is made based on a complete history, including sexual history, clinical manifestations, and examination. The treatment of syphilis with HIV and without HIV similar, penicillin is still the gold standard for syphilis treatment with HIV. Prevention of syphilis with HIV are educated, screening for syphilis and other sexually transmitted infections, as well as early detection and therapy of partners. The prognosis for syphilis in HIV is worse than for syphilis without HIV.

Anatomy and Histologic of Intrinsic Aging Skin

Aging skin has distinct two types: intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic changes reduce collagen production, blood flow, amount of skin lipid, and loss of rete ridges. Intrinsic aging or chronological aging is cannot be restored to the skin with characterized by sagging skin and some expression of excess wrinkling lines. Intrinsic aging changes in thickness and characteristics of the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. Histologically, epidermis thinner by leveling off the dermo-epidermal junction. In the dermis, collagen fibers become thicker and irregular than younger skin, reducing the elasticity of the skin, while hypodermis reduces lipid volume.

Analysis of the Electronic Implementation of A Malaria Surveillance Information System (E-SISMAL) in the Lahat District
Views: 1,045Downloads: 617Background: The requirement for malaria elimination to be recognized is to prove API lower than 1 per 1000 in the population, together with no indigenous case. Lahat Regency is an area of low-endemicity for malaria, where the target for elimination is projected for 2024. Since 2019, Lahat Regency has received socialization about E-SISMAL, which was developed as a web-based basis to speed up the reporting process. However, there are still delays in reporting malaria on E-SISMAL.
Methods: Descriptive research with a qualitative approach was designed. The study subjects were the malaria person in charge, the head of seven selected community health centers (Puskesmas) and the Lahat District Health Office. Primary data came from observation, focus group discussion (FGD) and in-depth interviews with eighteen informants selected by the purposive sampling method.
Results: The available inputs are inadequate, such as the human resource education was not up to standard, the internet network was not smooth, and there were no guidelines on E-SISMAL in the health centers. Malaria person in charge does not understand how to use E-SISMAL. In the process, there was the involvement of cross-sectoral and networked establishments. The output shows that the report indicators on E-SISMAL are not up to standard with less than 80%.
Conclusions: The use of E-SISMAL in the Lahat district has not been maximized. It has an impact on delays in reporting. It is recommended that training and practice of E-SISMAL occur to improve officers' ability through socialization and that the Lahat Health Office establishes partnerships with telecommunications companies to ensure the smooth running of the network. Developing specific guidelines on E-SISMAL and a mobile phone-based malaria surveillance information system to speed up the malaria reporting process in the Lahat district is also advisable.

Preliminary Result in Endoscopic Video Assisted Breast Surgery
Views: 676Downloads: 471Background : The development of technology has grown rapidly in surgical science, especially the use of endoscopy to develop operations in producing minimal scar tissue. Endoscopic VABS is a surgical technique and began to develop since 1995. The technique has several approaches, namely through the chest wall, mammary and axilla. The descriptive study aims to report our first experience in the management of benign breast tumors with Endoscopic Video Assisted Breast Surgery.
Methods : Ten patients with benign breast tumor have performed Endoscopic VABS in the period March 2017 to September 2017 at the Hospital in Surakarta. The largest diameter at the nodule, duration of operation, length of postoperative care, postoperative pain, cosmetic outcomes and complications were observed retrospectively.
Result : All patients are women with median age 28 years. The largest diameter that can be taken is 3.5 cm with median 2 cm. One patient performed the conversion into a lumpectomy with conventional techniques due to difficult dissection and uncontrolled bleeding. The median duration of surgery was 60 minute with an average length of treatment for 2 days postoperatively. Average VAS Score was 4. No postoperative complications were found. But cosmetically, all patients are satisfied with the results of surgical wounds.
Conclusion : The VABS endoscopic procedure is safe and effective procedure and has excellent cosmetic benefits because it does not show scar tissue in the breast area. This VABS Endoscopic technique has a weakness in terms of longer duration of operation compared to conventional techniques, but this can be overcome with the expertise and experience of the operator.

Accuracy of Cell-Free DNA (cfDNA) in Colorectal Cancer Diagnosis
Views: 1,261Downloads: 532Background: Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer following lung and breast cancer with the second most common cause of cancer-related death globally. Delayed diagnosis due to limited source and modality to perform early diagnosis lead to advanced-stage condition which contributes to higher morbidities and mortalities. Recent diagnosis of colorectal cancer depends on biopsy of suspected tissues, either obtained surgically or per colonoscopy. Colorectal cancer detection through cell-free DNA measurement allowing small-size cancer being detected even in early stage. cfDNA originated from derivates of increased and abnormality apoptosis-necrosis pathway from cancer lesion, therefore can be managed as specific tumor marker.
Methods: Diagnostic test was performed at the Gastroentero Hepatology Outpatient Unit and Internal Medicine Inpatient Unit of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang from March to June 2021. Data processing and analysis using SPSS version 26.0 for Windows.
Results: Among 50 subjects included, 39 subjects (78%) are diagnosed with colorectal cancer, whereas 11 subjects (22%) as control. The median of cfDNA result is 59,71 ng/mL with 92,3% sensitivity, 90,9% specificity, 95,2% positive predictive value, 82,3% negative predictive value, and 92,4% accuracy rate. Combination the measurement of cfDNA, CEA, and CA19-9 appears to have better AUC instead of single measurement.
Conclusion: The study reveals that cell-free DNA (cfDNA) demonstrated a very promising accuracy rate in diagnosing colorectal cancer.

The Role of Histone Deacetylase and Histone Deacetylase Inhibitors in Rheumatoid Arthritis
Views: 966Downloads: 654Rheumatoid Arthritis or RA disease is a chronic inflammatory and systemic disease associated with broad synovitis resulting in erosion of the articular cartilage and marginal bone causing joint damage. RA is an autoimmune disease with the discovery of an autoantibody, namely rheumatoid factor. The relevant antibody is anti-citrullinated protein (ACPA) antibody. Citullination on the introduction of several proteins such as fibrin, vimentin, fibronectin, collagen type II, which is expressed in the synovial membrane during inflammation by ACPA. In a recent study increased HDAC activity in the synovial tissue of RA patients has increased. Histone deacetylase or abbreviated as HDAC is an enzyme that is important in regulating gene transcription by altering the acetylation of histone proteins which results in an important regulation of repression in the implementation of inflammation. HDAC enzyme inhibitor (HDACi) is an HDAC enzyme inhibitor that can provide benefits for the treatment of various diseases including malignancy and inflammation. In inflammatory disease HDACi overcomes inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β. One of the HDAC classes is HDAC1 which is highly expressed in the synovial fibroblasts of RA patients. HDACi can burden swollen joints, reduce mononuclear cell infiltration, request pannus orders, inhibit bone and cartilage damage.

Relationship between Preventive Behavioral Factors and Malaria Incidence in Endemic Areas of Lahat Regency in 2021
Views: 935Downloads: 679Background: Malaria is still one of the main infectious diseases of concern in the world. Lahat Regency is a moderate malaria-endemic area in South Sumatra, where there are still several villages with an API value above 1 and indigenous cases, although the average API value in all health facilities is below 1.
Methods: Quantitative research with a case-control design was employed. The sampling technique used stratified random sampling with year strata, namely 2018, 2019 and 2020 with 50 case respondents and 100 control respondents. The total number of samples collected was 150. Case respondents were people who suffered from malaria and are recorded in the Malaria Surveillance Information System in the working area of the community health center, which has a village with an API value of 1 and the presence of indigenous cases. Control respondents were the closest neighbours of cases with the same age characteristics as the case. This study aimed to identify and analyse risk factors for preventive behaviour related to malaria incidence in the endemic area of the Lahat Regency.
Results: : Bivariate analysis revealed that the habit of using insect repellent was connected with the incidence of malaria in the endemic region of Lahat Regency, with a p-value of 0.042 and an odds ratio of 2.160 in the endemic area. The results of multivariate analysis showed that the most dominant risk factor was the habit of using mosquito repellent.
Conclusions: The habit of using mosquito repellent is a risk factor for malaria incidence in endemic areas of the Lahat Regency. It is necessary to increase individual self-prevention behaviour and counselling activities regarding preventive behaviour by local health service facilities.

Effectivity of Large Intestine 4 Point Accupressure on Labour Pain Stage-I Active Phase

Acupressure is included in Yankestrad skills that are easy, cheap, simple, effective, and without any side effects. harmful. Acupressure at the Large Intestine 4 Point (LI4) based on the literature is able to reduce labor pain in the first stage of the active phase.
Methods: This type of research is quasi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test research design. The samples were divided into two groups, the treatment group and the control group.
Results: Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded as follows: Active phase I labour pain before being given Acupressure Therapy for primigravida mothers in PMB Aceh Besar District averaged 7.35. Active phase I labour pain after being given Acupressure Therapy to primigravida mothers in PMB Aceh Besar District decreased by an average of 5.47.
Conclusions: There are differences in labour pain in the stage-I of active phase in the Acupressure therapy group with the Routine care group for the stage-I of labour for primigravida mothers in PMB Aceh Besar District.

Relation of Normal Childbirth Care Training to Midwives Knowledge and Attitudes at Bebesen Health Center Bebesen District of Central Aceh Regency in 2021
Views: 641Downloads: 387Background. Mortality and morbidity in pregnant and maternity women is a big problem in developing countries. In poor countries, about 25-50% of deaths of women of childbearing age are caused by pregnancy-related causes. It is estimated that every year 585,000 women die from pregnancy and childbirth. 99% of these deaths occur in developing countries. According to WHO, 60-80% of maternal deaths are caused by bleeding during childbirth, obstructed labor, sepsis, high blood pressure during pregnancy, and complications from unsafe abortion. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between normal delivery care (APN) training on the knowledge and attitudes of midwives at the Bebesen Health Center, Bebesen District, Central Aceh Regency in 2020.
Methods. The research method uses an analytical survey method with a cross sectional approach, which is a study to study the dynamics of the correlation between risk factors and effects, by approaching, observing or collecting data at once. The population in this study was all 63 midwives. The sampling method uses a total sampling technique that uses all members of the population as a sample. Data collection was carried out from November 14-16, 2020.
Results. The results showed that from the analysis obtained a value for the p-value of good knowledge as many as 20 respondents (31.7%) and a positive attitude that is as many as 32 respondents (50.8%).
Conclusion. There is a relationship between normal delivery care training (APN) with knowledge with a p value of 0.014 (p < 0.05) and normal delivery care (APN) with changes in the attitude of midwives with a p value of 0.00 (p < 0.05) in Bebesen Public Health Center, Bebesen District, Central Aceh Regency.

Factors Affecting Midwives Knowledge About Early Initiation of Breastfeeding at Lut Tawar District Health Center of Central Aceh Regency in 2020
Views: 603Downloads: 407Background: Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that there are 170 million children worldwide experiencing malnutrition, 3 million of whom leave each year due to malnutrition. Therefore, WHO recommends, all infants need to receive colostrum (first and second day milk) to fight infection and exclusively breastfed for 6 months to ensure adequate nutrition for infants. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the knowledge of midwives about early initiation of breastfeeding in the working area of the Lut Tawar City Health Center, Central Aceh Regency in 2020.
Methods: The research method used is an analytical survey method with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all midwives in the area. The city health center serves as many as 59 people. The sampling method uses a total sampling technique that uses all members of the population as a sample. Data collection was carried out on November 15-19, 2020.
Results: The results showed that respondents aged > 40 years had good knowledge, namely 64.3%, respondents with DIII education had less knowledge, namely 56.8%, respondents who had never attended breastfeeding initiation training 69.6% respondents who did not often do early initiation of breastfeeding have good knowledge that is 63.9%, respondents who do not get information about early initiation of breastfeeding mostly lack of knowledge that is 58.1%.
Conclusion: Factors that influence the knowledge of midwives on early initiation of breastfeeding are education and experience participating in training related to early initiation of breastfeeding.
